gotcha!

The mystery has been revealed! After months of wondering who is living in this future goldmine, sandwiched between two major redevelopments, I have finally snapped the money shot! She's the proud owner of this lovely ranch style corner lot home that is just begging to be retired to real estate heaven. If I was her, I'd SELL - she would get a FORTUNE for her property. She does take great care of her home though, it's clean and well kept, and the yard is always perfect. She just keeps the blinds shut all the time, and the empty yard attached to the left of her home is now full of tall growing wild flowers:

She's also put up various signs to show other NW Hobokenites that she is a warm and friendly neighbor. You know - signs that scream "Hey you, come on over for a glass of iced tea, let's hang out on the porch and get to know each other!" Here's one example:

Ladies and Gents, I give to you, the big reveal. Drum roll please.............

* Her identity will remain a closely guarded secret, kept hidden behind the infamous magenta face dot.

everyone, meet hooper and happy honker

Across the street from Metrostop, and just south of Fields Crossing, two new membrs of our community have settled in. It was a long trip down from the country better known as the homeland of Pamela Anderson (floaties), Alanis Morissette (yodeler), Nelly Furtado (maneater), and Keanu Reeves (whoa). Our new neighbors seemed to have moved in for the long hall. And apparently they are trust fund babes because they never leave during the day (or at night for that matter). What a life!

Interestingly, when learning more about Canadian Geese, I've discovered that there is a new type of geese that are non-migratory, and settle in permanently in densley populated areas such as golf courses, parking lots, and urban parks. They adapted to these new conditions and are more frequently becoming known as 'pests'. Well, other than the fact that they spend all their time honking and waddling around, they don't seem to bother anyone.

Click here for the Wikipedia entry on Canadian Geese. Knowledge is power, my friends.

Hooper enjoys long walks around the the construction site of 800 Monroe, and Happy just tends to chill in the pond, relaxing in the sunshine. If you walk by, you'll definitely hear their singing skills, honking for everyone to hear.

I heard they paid too much for their condo, but you know what they say about Canadian Geese- they have terrible negotiating skills.

compulsive stray cat feeders

Allow me to introduce you to these two lovely ladies. As long time locals of the hood, they've stood by during the recent and ongoing transformation of their once quiet Hoboken neighborhood. Both, I'm sure, are confident, determined women with iron constitutions, and strong religious convictions. Daily rituals include walking back and forth to the local Shoprite supermarket, wearing sassy outfits to excite the local construction workers, swigging back a case or two (each) of ice cold Coors Light tall boys, and wasting their social security checks feeding stray cats along Jackson Street.

How did this unique relationship begin? We will never know. I don't quite understand the need to feed stray cats. The world is their oyster! They don't need us for sustenance! Stray cats are intelligent animals that can take care of themselves. Ladies, if I may- please stop spending your savings on cat food. Wouldn't that money be much more useful if you put it towards buying some chic new handkerchiefs to help protect your hair when it rains?

I share in my grandfathers assessment of stray cats: "Speed bumps, all of 'em." Well, that's what he used to say, until one showed up on his doorstep. It wasn't long before he turned to the dark side and began feeding the little guy. Six months later and that allergy ticking time bomb had taken my place as the new favorite grandchild. I'm currently working my way back up to #1 status. It's been tough, but I'm determined.
